Rising R&B/Hip-Hop artist-producer Milla Thyme has released his new single “Smooth
It Out feat. pHoenix Pagliacci” on November 25th, 2022. This will be a follow up to his last release “Exaltation”, which dropped this past July. Milla describes this song as “a certified bop”.
The upcoming song arrives perfectly timed off the momentum of Milla Thyme’s debut 2021 LPEverything Has Its Thyme, which landed him on Complex Canada’s ‘11 Rising Black Canadian Artists You Should Know’ in March 2021.
The song starts off with a slew of syncopated punches, immediately throwing the listener into an electro funky vibe, all while, Milla Thyme showcases his signature flawless flow. Next up, Toronto
based vocalist/rapper pHoenix Pagliacci (TRP.P, Shad, Rapsody), brings the song to life with her warm vocal delivery, setting the song up for the groove to kick in. The instrumentation really shines on this song, allowing Milla and Phoenix to float over top of the beat with their fun and energetic performances.
The funky guitar part is reminiscent of the Isley Brothers, the synth pads create a lush soundscape, all while the bass pulsates through the song, holding all the parts together. “Smooth It Out”, sits at a crossroads between R&B, Hip-Hop and electronic infused Jazz, which Milla is always able to blend in an effortless manner.
“After all we have been through with COVID these last few years I just want people to feel good and move!”, says Milla.
Milla Thyme is a true devout artist building on the foundations set before him and fearlessly molding it to the present day and time. Born and raised in Toronto, based out of Montreal, Milla Thyme’s artistry is unique and, on a technical level, irreplaceable. By intertwining his skills as a rapper, bassist and producer/composer, he has set the stage for himself as a socially conscious rapper and proficient musician who has earned critical praise amongst his peers and across Canada.
Being influenced by so many different genres, musicians and artists, Thyme prides himself of blending Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, and Jazz into his craft. His songwriting and well-crafted verses speak to the experiences we all go through, making it easily accessible and universal.
He looks to the iconic influential musicians like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Miles Davis, to be inspired to push boundaries and make music that will stand the test of time. For this track, Thyme once again teamed up with Vancouver based, Grammy and Juno nominated keyboardist/producer Jonny Tobin. Over the last few years Jonny Tobin has established himself as one of the most sought after keyboardist/producers in Canada, working with artists such as D-Smoke (LA), Sarah Kang (NYC), and Jonny Burgos.
