Michellar returns with a shimmer on her new single “Game of Love,” a velvety Indie-Pop groove featuring the effortlessly smooth Rad Datsun. From the first instrumental play of the track, the soft-toned female vocals creates a warm, joined later by the male vocal, cinematic aura—one that feels both intimate and expansive.
The chorus—“It’s the game of love”—is a hook built to live in your head rent-free, the type of line that becomes your subconscious soundtrack long after the 3-minute-12-second run time wraps. And that’s the magic here: the song feels like a flash. You blink, it’s over, and you’re instantly tapping replay.
Recorded between San Francisco and Minneapolis, the track began as simple demos before being transformed into a polished, international production by Romania’s Marius Alexandru. His touch elevates the song into a glowing, contemporary pop landscape, touching hints of soul, alternative pop, and groove while keeping the vocals front and center.
For Michellar—also known offstage as Michelle Bond—this single marks another milestone in an already rapid creative evolution. After gaining a confidence spark from being accepted into the deYoung Museum Open Call Exhibition in 2023, she’s written prolifically, dropping an impressive 22 singles in just nine months. “Game of Love” showcases that growth clearly: tighter songwriting, bolder storytelling, and a refined emotional palette.
The lyrics paint a relatable romantic suspense—two strangers, a spark in an airport aisle, the hesitation, the thrill, the strategy of connection: “What should I say / Don’t wanna blow it / It’s the game of love…”
Though neither Michellar nor Brad Johnson (Rad Datsun) have upcoming performances scheduled, fans should hold tight. If “Game of Love” is any indicator, both artists are gearing up for a breakout chapter—one shimmering note at a time.
