We have them again, Shyfrin Alliance, with their much-anticipated sophomore album, In the Shadow of Time, released in November 2025. After last year’s breakout debut Upside Down Blues stormed past half a million Spotify streams and carved out global attention across the U.S., U.K. and Europe, expectations were sky-high. Eduard Shyfrin is an award-winning author, businessman, and scientist—who fearlessly explores the enigmatic concept of time through a unique musical lens.

Eduard Shyfrin’s vision for In the Shadow of Time is unprecedented. “I don’t think there exists an album dedicated purely to the topic of time,” he states. This new seven-track blues-rock collection runs just over 32 minutes, yet its conceptual density feels vast, exploring time as both tormentor and teacher, shadow and mirror. The album’s soundscape is a compelling combination of blues and rock, layered with philosophical depth and textured by Shyfrin’s authoritative bass voice, especially prominent in tracks like “Buddha Blues.”

The album’s title track, “In the Shadow of Time,” stands as its thematic nucleus—a dark, rolling meditation where time becomes an ominous figure, “shapeless… faceless… ruthless and tender.”

Over deep baritone rumble and drums that feel like slow tectonic shifts, Shyfrin asks the central question: “Who is there in the shadow of time?” He likens time’s forms to a Pollock painting--unrecognizable, chaotic, yet undeniably present. Its existential blues delivered with cinematic weight.

Another standout, “Pendulum,” dives into time’s duality with poetic force. Here, Shyfrin paints time as “Viceroy of the being,” a relentless rider governing every joy, crisis, twist, and transcendence. The track swings from meditative reflection to anthemic declaration; “No time for war… Time for your love, forever and now.” In a rare moment of release, love halts the eternal swing: “In the realm of love, pendulum is at standstill.”

The mood changes on “Whiskey Blues,” a smoky, soul-heavy confession weaving through despair, numbness, and late-night surrender. The refrain; “Whiskey blues is playing in my soul”—lands like a modern blues mantra.

And then comes “Buddha Blues,” already positioned as a fan favorite, myself personally, I love it too. Minimalist yet hypnotic, it circles through life’s recurring crossroads: seeing love, losing it, and continuing the ride. Shyfrin’s authoritative low register anchors the track, giving it both folk charm and philosophical gravity.

In all, the album has delivered, In the Shadow of Time from Shyfrin Alliance has set to be a project that is both musically rich and intellectually daring—a rare fusion of blues-rock grit and metaphysical inquiry. On this one you sit with, question, and ultimately feel. Time may be shapeless--but Shyfrin Alliance shapes its shadow into art.
