Little Louis by Tom Collins

After the heavy-hitting realism of Halfway Boys, Tom Collins returns with Little Louis, a song that feels just as grounded but wrapped in a more delicate, luminous glow.

From the opening guitar strums, Little Louis builds a soothing space that’s intimate and expansive. The jangly indie-rock riffs shimmer with youthful energy but underneath lies a quietly aching soul. Collins, once again, balances light and shadow. While Halfway Boys spoke in bold strokes about hardship, Little Louis moves through softer, more reflective brushwork — telling the story of two young hearts shaped by difficult beginnings, trying to carve out a future in a broken world.

“She is just a girl trying to find her way in a broken world” — this line stands out not because it’s loud, but because it’s honest. That’s Collins’ gift. He doesn’t need complex metaphors or dramatic crescendos. Instead, he leans into the beauty of simplicity, allowing the rawness in his voice and the clarity of his message to shine through.

Collins sings like someone who’s lived the story he’s telling. His voice carries that worn-in edge — slightly frayed but full of feeling. There’s a moment in the chorus where it lifts, not into triumph, but into quiet defiance. That’s where Little Louis shines most: in its refusal to give up, even when everything says it’s easier to stay broken.
